The Allen County Jail is a minimum to maximum security facility located in Lima, Ohio. The jail houses inmates who are awaiting court dates or are serving out their sentences. The jail can house up to 250 inmates at any given time. The jail books roughly 3,500 inmates per year. The public can view current inmates on the Allen County Jail roster. The jail provides many inmate programs, such as physical exercise groups, G.E.D. classes, anger management, AA and NA meetings and spiritual programs. The jail is monitored by 46 highly trained corrections officers.

How to Send Mail or Package

Inmates are allowed to receive letters, greeting cards and money orders through the mail. Up to 4 pictures are allowed at a time. Incoming inmate mail is opened and searched for contraband. Any mail that contains contraband will be returned to the sender.

Funds can be deposited into an inmate’s account in person, online or by mail. Money orders can be mailed to the jail. No cash will be accepted by mail. Funds can be deposited in person at the kiosk in the jail lobby. Cash and cards are accepted. Funds can be deposited online using a 3rd party provider called “Inmate Canteen” using a credit or debit card.

Visitation Hours

Inmates are allowed to receive in-person or video visitation. Inmates can have up to 5 family members or friends visit in person, 2 times a week, for 20 minutes at a time. Visitation hours for in person visitation is based on which cell an inmate is housed in.

Video visitation is available to inmates 7 days a week from 8 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 10 pm for all housing units. There is a 39 cent per minute fee for video visitation.

The Allen County Jail provides a public inmate roster. The roster is updated every 24 hours and lists the inmates in alphabetical order. The inmates name, mugshot, charges and bond amount will be posted on the roster. There is an option to search for a specific inmate by first and last name.

The warrants division of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for processing and returning all warrants of arrest and criminal summons. The warrants division processes between 1,000 and 1,300 active warrants and summons at any given time. The division releases criminal warrant information in person only.

The records division of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for processing all arrest, incident and traffic reports in the county. Record requests can be made electronically on the Sheriff’s Office website, in person, or by email.
