The creation in OP is great, but it reminds me that I actually hate the art style of Crystal and the original Manga. My 90's nostalgia just can't handle the more detailed characters.

Also not Sailor Moon but I went to a JoJo Bar in Nakano once that was showing a DVD of fanmade JoJo intros from the early 2000s (like 2005 or 2007 I think? It had a Steel Ball Run intro too). So it was well before the recent anime was made and there were some really well animated stuff in it. Unfortunately the only one I can seem to find online anymore is a Stone Ocean OP to the Evangelion theme and this one for Vento Aureo which is one of the less animated ones but is still pretty neat:
I'd love to see them all again if I could find them.

It's cool and I definitely appreciate the style which resembles the manga more, but like most fan projects that pay homage to old-school anime, there's a lot of extra shading on the drawings and not a lot of good animation.
Still, it's a fan project and definitely deserves praise.
But it's hard for me not to notice how they never manage to "get" the Japanese style of animation right.
